The Works of Sarina Freincle
I am a fine artist, muralist, and portrait painter based in the Lowcountry of South Carolina.
My work lives in schools, on community walls, and in homes art that decorates a space and holds the memories that live inside it. I paint the people whose stories shaped this land: civil rights organizers, educators, and community builders. I paint the people you love so their faces endure long after memory fades.
I founded A Beautiful Distraction on one belief: art is for decorating a home and holding space for the memories inside it, the thing a community passes down when words aren't enough.
Born in New York. Rooted in South Carolina, painting for what outlasts us.
“In the quiet chaos of color, we
find the stories we were too afraid
to speak.”

I’m Blogging AGAIN!!!
Esau Jenkins drove a bus and taught his passengers to read so they could vote. That bus is now painted on a school wall on Johns Island. This is what it looked like — and the story of the six civil rights portraits that belong alongside it.
I didn’t know how much love my heart could hold until I looked into his eyes.
Becoming a mother slowed me down in the most beautiful way. It rooted me. It changed the way I moved through the world. Suddenly, everything revolved around this little boy who needed me — and I needed him more than I even knew at the time.
He didn’t just grow up — he grew me up.
Now that he’s 25, I look at him and see a reflection of every prayer I whispered, every tear I hid, and every dream I carried for him when he couldn’t see it for himself. He’s not just my son — he’s one of my best friends. We talk. We laugh. We bump heads sometimes. But the love? The love never shifts.
Raising him was the making of me.
We Plant Now, So We Bloom All Summer
And let me be clear: it’s not just about the planting — it’s about the watering. It’s about the daily tending. The quiet moments when no one is watching, and it’s just you and your dream deciding to choose each other again.
Turning 50 is more than a milestone—it’s a declaration of strength, wisdom, and self-love. Oh, to Be a Black Woman is not just a hat; it’s a celebration of everything that makes us powerful. As I step into this new chapter, I am prioritizing my health, embracing my authenticity, and building a legacy that inspires generations. This is the season of intentional living, self-celebration, and standing unapologetically in my truth. Join me in honoring the beauty and resilience of Black womanhood.
It February brings reflections on love, alignment, and the intentional spaces we create. As a creative, love must be expansive, not restrictive—supportive, not envious. It cannot thrive in chaos or demand explanations for midnight inspiration. In March, I choose discernment, ensuring that those I welcome into my life complement rather than complicate my journey. Because my life is art, and the love I accept must be worthy of the masterpiece I am creating.all begins with an idea.
When Chief Allomanhin placed the wand in my hands, I knew this was no ordinary gift. In his culture, only kings and chiefs carry this sacred symbol of power, wisdom, and leadership. It is never given lightly—yet he gave it to me. In that moment, he confirmed what I had not yet fully claimed for myself: I am walking in something greater. This was more than recognition; it was a calling. When a chief acknowledges you as worthy of something only rulers hold, you don’t question it—you rise to meet it.
